Annotations for Undisclosed Desires

Lyric: I want to satisfy the undisclosed desires in your heart
Annotation:
I want to get to know you so well, that I am able to understand what your heart longs for the most and bring satisfaction and peace at last. I want to rid you of your sadness and unfulfilled state. With the previous line talking about ridding one of their demons, this line contributes to the point by saying that there may have been some desires that have been repressed due to thinking you’re not worthy of being happy.

Lyric: I want to recognise your beauty is not just a mask
Annotation:
The protagonist wants to acknowledge his lover’s beauty as something meaningful that’s not only meant to hide her true self: it can possibly sound like remorse for not having acknowledged it before. Moreover, by looking at the previous line, which refers to the inner workings of the girl’s mind, one can assume he knows her so well, he wants to help her make peace with her demons. When developing feelings for someone, it often starts with the physical looks which mesmerise the viewer. There is the rose glasses period, when the beauty helps dismiss the personality. He has gotten over the beauty and has now explored the inner world. He now wants to get back to the outside and appreciate the beauty in a different way from before. He wants to see it with fresh eyes, and move away from the idea that her looks was what hid her inner world from him before. This ties in with the overall motive of the song which is knowing the girl inside and out in all the ways – knowing even her undisclosed desires. He may feel that the outer beauty may have been left disregarded.
